Hardware for Computer Beatmaking Overview
The past 20 or so years have brought us far. Long gone are the days of having to save up money for studio time or for $1,300 drum machines and samplers. These days we can make whole albums completely “in the box” (using only software) if we choose to. The only hardware that comes close to being a is a necessity in today’s beat making is probably a pair of monitor speakers and a computer itself. However, some people like to hold on to tradition and be as “hands on” as possible with actual gear. This quick overview breaks down the hardware necessities for those making beats using software.
1. Monitor Speakers – For accurately hearing your music.
Useful but not necessary:
1. Mixer (for recording from external instruments/equipment)
2. Audio Interface (needed for recording instruments/ rappers)
3. Sound/Effects Modules
